50th anniversary of ASEAN
As ASEAN marks the 50 anniversary of its
founding there is much to celebrate. With
the combined economy of its 10 Member
States growing by around five per cent a
year, and a new middle class that is fast
emerging, ASEAN has brought peace and
stability to a region rife with rifts and
inequality. ASEAN is the world’s sixth largest
economy today, and projected to be the
fourth largest single market in the world by
2030. How can ASEAN and the European
Union (EU) benefit from each other’s experi-
ences? Looking at the existing challenges of
globalization for ASEAN and the EU, there
are lessons to be drawn for the future. Join
us in discussing the way forward for two
unique organizations and their peoples.
